Tea for Three

So, while the rest of The Crew were off at Perhentians and Priya was supposed to be studying for ISAT, Sara, Sarah and I decided that we'd meet for tea last Wednesday. Originally we were thinking E & O but decided against it since we aren't rich enough, Sarah needed to be in Gurney, I couldn't spend too much time there since I was busy, and because of their usage of tea bags.

Which, according to some posh British blogger who Sara pointed out to us, is apparently a henious crime that will result in the end of the world.

I was only kidding about the end of the world bit.

Anyway! We came to a consensus about where we were going to go to eat afternoon tea. While Sarah hunted around Gurney Plaza for rocket (the vegetable not the spaceship missile kind) around 2:30, the lovely Sara came and picked me up and took me to..


It was warm and cozy :] Like the bolster I forgot to bring to Singapore.

So anyway the three of us sat down and Sara wanted to order potato bake and I was thinking, well, how in the world is she going to eat the potato bake if we're already having such a big afternoon tea after lunch? So I managed to convince her not to. Instead, we ordered Darjeeling black tea and a drink called Midnight Kiss because I liked the name and I thought it would help me be ninja since I wasn't supposed to be on the ground floor at 3 in the afternoon.


I liked it because it came in a small cute cup.

Because no outing is complete without a funny Sara Loh picture. Sara is licking Midnight Kiss.

Sarah, being Sarah, ordered a fruit salad and an Americano. I then asked her to flap her arms, and she obliged-

Her fruit salad came and it really wasn't very good, so Sarah proceeded to eat her own apples and pears like she usually does. It's amazing how she manages to eat so many fruit and not turn green or red. If she turned green she would be an alien, and I would be happy because then there would be an explanation for her extraordinary behaviours such as running and studying: not at the same time. So would Sara because Sarah would be green.

If she ate more oranges she would turn orange. I think I'm the only person that wants that for the moment. But never mind, I shall spread propaganda. Meanwhile Sara was staring at photos of her cheese baked potato thingy and kept saying she wanted it, and I was like... yeah you're never going to be able to finish it.

Then the cakes and stuff arrived in a pretty pretty bowl... plate... tier... small building.... thing.

Shut up, I know my vocabulary has gone downhill.

Anyway despite the overall prettiness, the food was okay-ish. I kind of liked the cakes but didn't want to finish them all because I was full and didn't want to force myself, and Sara refused to eat sponge cake. Sarah of course was munching on her 99th pear of the day, or drinking her Americano coffee with extra shots and less water. Who drinks coffee in a tea house?

Only Sarah Ch'ng. For she is just that epic awesome. Oh, meanwhile Sara started talking about ordering her potato bake and I was thinking, well she can order it, I'll try a bit but I don't think that she's going to be able to finish, after all we had lunch already and I'm pretty stuffed. After about a million years this arrived in all its potato-ey and cheesy glory.

Yes the potato bake. Fear it. It's actually pretty good though I was too stuffed to appreciate it fully. Sara meanwhile was devouring it and I was thinking, oh, she won't be this hungry in a short while, we'll probably have to pack it and take it back to her home. She can have it for breakfast and- HOLYSHITDIDSHEJUSTFINISHIT?!

Sara as always looked totally innocent as she nommed the last bits of her food down then toyed with her milk that was actual milk and not creamer. Maybe she works magic on us but I have no idea how she always looks like that. Then Sarah decided to buy two RM 30 teacups and two RM 30 saucers- well actually they cost RM 15 each but the extra money was paying for the satisfaction of her mother's heart. At least that's what I kept reiterating as she decided to buy this:

There was another one but frankly the other one had freaking chickens on it (maybe those chickens ended up in Sara's potato bake and got devoured) and was a tad dark. And besides this one had an orangey hue to it and was pretty. Seriously, guys. How can you resist anything that has an orangey hue to it and is pretty?

Oh, and Priya, once you finish ISAT you can say I Sat for ISAT :D

As Jas very nicely put it, we have now returned from Perhentian. A little island off the East coast of Malaysia. I have not seen newspapers for 5 days. Or the Internet. But I shall leave the trip summary to others. My task here is to post a list of quotes I had written down while we were there. Funny quotes. Mostly convoluted. Mostly by Jas. Hi Sarahhh!!! I went to the gym yesterday and Reagan's dad made me bench-press 45kg and do 10 chin ups :( I don't like chin ups. Now I am slightly sore.

Okayyy! Exams are almost done, (some a little too soon *cough Su cough* :P) and so what are you guys planning to do after this? I know we've already made a list thingie but that's all jumbled up and it's all the way down the blog D: haha so maybe list out some things that everyone can do or go to, that'll be fun :)

PENANG HILLLLLLLL. Skating. Apparently Rasa Sayang has a mini-golfing thing, we can try that too. Hanging out. Sleepovers. Eating, sleeping, eating, sleeping. LAZING AROUND.

EATING. At STRADA people!!! Or was it just the girls? *cough* HAHHAH.HIKING. HIKING. HIKING. CAMPING! FOOD HOPPING. PANTAI KERACHUT (Darren's suggestion), MOVIE MARATHON. EXERCISE. Darren and WY previously suggested a potato party. I'm thinking of having a day where everyone comes over to my place for a meal! :) I wanna start cooking again.

Strada? But the food there is only so-so, and its almost empty all the time D: you serious about hiking? WHO'S GAME FOR HIKINGG? I think it's only me, you, and perhaps Priya. Rasa Sayang, Priya?! hahaha going there just for mini-golf ._. potato party has been scrapped I think for WY's Penang Hill thing. You guys still can bring various types of potato dishes if you desire.

Aliens can be purple too. I hate Roald Dahl. The BFG was the stupidest most retarded book ever with lousy grammar and bad English. I thought that way when I was 10 years old and his stories didn't make sense. Maybe I'm the prude. 1 sen tak dak value dah. People don't even pick it up if they find it on the street. What's the point of something which has no value? Dunno. I'd pick it up. I feel sorry for things that are tossed aside. Is it me or are we getting morbid?

Thing is, I feel as though our IB workload has made it so that none of us can really be bothered to post here and be happy any more. We emo on our own blogs. We come here and be happy.

The answer could refer to eating, throwing, cooking, or in WY's case, as a birthday gift. Any occassion which requires the rpesence of the wonderful tomato or potato. Enjoy.

Mocks Day 3:

Wei Yun would like to comment that it is SAD, just SAD, that she writes reports like this and even sadder that she is doing this instead of studying.

Woke up, went to school, all that jazz EXCEPT this time I wore orange socks and an orange shoelace as a belt because I was too lazy to open my closet to get one. Apparently the neon-ness of the shoelace distracted Varoot as he did his Chinese exam:Also, instead of studying my ass off for the paper I slacked off for Mandarin and crammed for History instead.

Mandarin A2 SL Paper 1: Pretty good actually, considering I didn't do much revision but hey I guess the practice I've been doing in class is paying off, and combining Ms. Ong's notes with Mr. Bao's theories on literature works.

Went to library, Lisa tied the shoelace into a bow and asked me to cover it with my black cami because it was too neon (the shoelace, not the cami) and then I had the next paper- Mandarin Paper 2!

Mandarin A2 SL Paper 2: Okay. Nothing else to say except okay.

Commence running around like a headless donkey when exam is over because I have history. Ate lunch in canteen which was actually good, then did no revision but ran around with the book hoping I would absorb the knowledge from within. Talked to I Yune, Michelle, Michele, Hui Ern, Amy. Told Michele that the exam was at 130 BUT KYLIE TOLD ME IT WAS 1 LATER SO I RAN LIKE A HEADLESS DONKEYFART TO THE EXAM HALL LUCKILY MICHELE WAS THERE ALREADY I'M SORRYYYY-

Make bets with JM and Pin to treat them to food if I get a 7.

History Paper 3: Better than I thought it would be... I answered all 3 questions on Russia at different times though. Tsars Alexander II and III, Russian Revolution, then Gorbachev.

Get chased home by little sister. Almost halfway there...

There you go people. Today was languages day! I hate foreign languages -_-" I'm taking beginners Mandarin btw. Bah.

Mocks Day 2:

Wei Yun did not wear as much orange as she could have which was probably the reason why ( ). She tells Mr. N it is all his fault they are suffering, who responds that he expected her to ask how his holiday was. Walks into the hall, sees Mr. W who tells her some good news that makes her yhey.

Chem Paper 1: Okay I suppose, could have been better

Is told by Priya that she wore so much orange on Day 1 that she knocked her socks off. Wei Yun responds that she was going to wear orange socks that day as well but decided not to because she was afraid they would show as she was wearing a skirt that was not knee-length unlike what Hui Ern claims it had to be. Went out for wan tan mee with Amy and Prudie. Complained about Chem. Came back and...

Chem Paper 2: DIE LIAO LAH. I couldn't answer the first question. The worst part is I wasted all my time studying for THIS paper instead of the other papers and everything I studied for decided not to come out, wtf, wtf, wtf. I SPENT MY WHOLE HOLIDAY DOING CHEM *and playing Fire Emblem* and this happens?! ;faa;das;f;adsf;s;;;

When exams are over, Wei Yun and Pilip complain that the structured questions were so hard the essay questions looked easy in comparison. W.T.F.

Chemistry Paper 1: OMG. Brain dead.

Chemistry Paper 2: Section A - "Oo.. I can do... happy happy.." *doesn't matter whether it was right or wrong!* Section B - "o.O WHAT IN THE WORLD?! *Panics* Brain deadddd." TNT is more reactive than sugar = IT IS A FREAKIN' EXPLOSIVE. It goes 'BOOM'. =_=.

I spent the entire holiday studying chemistry TOO! p-ish.

HISTORY PAPER THREE TOMORROW!!! NOOOOO!!!!! *looks pointedly at Lenin: WHY DID YOU HAVE TO REVOLT!??! WHY COULDN'T YOU JUST LIVE IN PEACE?!?!*

I just spent 5 minutes of time here. Must be delusional. *leaves to return to the Russian Revolution*.

Jas woke up late today. 6.40 to be exact. Though she somehow managed to leave the house at 6.51, notice how she appears to have a very strange habit of memorizing exact times. Anyway, leaving the house 9 minutes early, you'd expect that I get there 9 minutes early but NOOOO... Stupid me took a wrong turn and ended up just as late as the day before. I secretly think the exams are not really testing my chemistry knowledge and whatever... but my driving skills -_-" Leaving at 6.50a.m. tomorrow, waking up at 6, shall try not to be late.

Note that I tied pigtails today cause I couldn't find any of my rubber bands or clips.. Anyway.. Chem Paper 1

"That was a tricky paper."

"It was?" Then I proceed to realize the numerous mistakes I got tricked into.

I finished Psych with a half hour to spare and proceeded to go to sleep because I'd only had like 5 hours the night before. I will pay for my complacency. Chem Paper 2 was two and a half hours long!! I suppose it wasn't so bad, maybe because my brain appears to be numb. That's quite sad, I'm so dumb I can't even tell I'm dumb. I was in school from 8.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. today, sat for 5.5 hours worth of papers... Now I'm snacking cause I haven't had anything to eat and weigh a paltry 43.8 kg.

Actually I think sucrose may be more explosive than TNT because the equation for the TNT corresponded to two moles of TNT. More heat is released per mole for sucrose, although the reaction rate is lower.

And I will not say anything about the Chem paper, heh.

French today.. It was okay I suppose. Considering I wrote about 5 times more than they asked me to. Whoopsie.

Mock exam report:

Day 1:

Wei Yun decides it will be a good idea to wear orange. Reason? The more orange she wears, the less likely she is to fail. She gets up at 645, puts on brown and orange headband, orange tank inside white shirt, brownish orange beads. Might still possibly fail her exams due to the fact that she forgot orange socks. So she gets to school, and sees...

Everyone! Talking about how nice it is to see each other BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY the first paper that is coming up. Su is actually memorizing literary terms which is... wow. Wei Yun, being the lazy ass she is, decides to just look through Su's list briefly before traipsing off to talk to other people- because she doesn't think she can cram in last- minute info anyway.

Now for the report:

English Paper 1, HL: Okay I guess, I loved the piece of prose that we got. It was really a great piece of writing and well I could relate to the surreal elements in it I guess? So well I think I'll do okay. Not great because I was a little stuck at the beginning, but I think I'll do okay.

Maths Paper 1, HL: WAY better than last year's paper in June. I think I'll pass this one.

Jas woke up at 6.15 a.m., took a not so nice cold shower cause she'd gone to sleep only 3.5 hours before and put on the first thing in her closet. She left the house at 7.00 a.m. at which point Wei Yun was probably STILL putting on her funky beads but Jas still got to school way later than everybody else. At 7.49 a.m. to be exact, when everyone was outside the hall. I know this because Panit messaged me at 7.47 a.m. asking me where the hell I was, most people thinking I'd overslept seeing as how I've been sleeping at like 4.00 a.m. every single day. Anyway...

English Paper 1, HL: I didn't understand crap. I did half of one, half of the other and finally settled on the first one. Took me a full 20 minutes to decide which question to do.

Maths Paper 1, SL: If people were free enough to look up, I was the one staring blankly off into space thinking "OHHHH CRAP!" But everyone else seemed to be writing so I tried to be smart and write stuff too... I stabbed myself with my compass. Twice. Once in my leg and once in my finger. Wanna see??????

Alarm rings at 645. Press Snooze.. Sleep until 710am. Brother comes in saying, 'OMG WOW. I BEAT YOU'. I wake up, rush down, and pick Sara up. Then make the insane drive to school with Sara saying, 'Wahhh.....' *must be her lack of sleep*. We get to school at 744am. ONE MINUTE TO SPARE. And run upstairs like a bunch of mad people. And get to the hall. Greetings galore. And a very loud 'GOOD MORNING'. =_=. Enter exam

English A1 HL - I like the prose. It was philosophical. I was so happy to finally get an author that I know. C.S. Lewis. I jammed alot trying to structure my essay until finally winged it and just analysed it paraphragh by paragraph. I then said C.S Lewis wrote "Alice in Wonderland". It was supposed to be LEWIS Carroll. Hello, they are almost the same. Glad to know I provided some comic relief. Because Mr. Cadman gave me a very amused look when I told him. >.<

Maths SL - First 5 questions: OHh... Nice.. easy.. I can do... Oher questions after that: OMG. WTH. DIE. So what I did was copy the question, and copy the formula, and insert whatever knowledge I had. You get points for working see. HEH. Math is murder. MURDER. Grrr maths.

This took all of 10 minutes of my Chemistry revision time. OH dear.

Yay! Considering I don't have a paper today, why not use up some of my revision time telling everyone about my shortcomings in the first paper! OH JOY! :D :D :D well I'm online anyway, might as well :) heh heh okayyyy so I woke up at 6.30-ish and ate some bread with ba hu and then I had a cup of MILO (the drink of Champions, or so they say) then off to school after I suddenly realised that I forgot to bring my jacket or something whatever its called :P so I went to search for it in my closet, couldn't find it, asked the maid where it was, and finally gave up when she realised it was kept in this huge suitcase together with loads of other clothes on top of my parents closet. Delightful. SO anyway I put on my long-sleeved shirt so I could roll the sleeves down if I got cold. Which was exactly what PiLip did too! Great minds think alike, eh? HAHAHAHA

Anyway, I'm the dude with all three Highers on the same day. English HL -> I chose the prose. No surprise there. Mr. Walton even told me that he won a bet with Mr Cadman because he bet that I would do the prose. HAHA I should get a share of the winnings! :) anyway I did it ainly because I couldn't really understand the poem. I thought it was about Dust Bunnies. And theywere DYINGGGGG awwh so sad. Then I realised that it was highly unlikely that dust bunnies would be a focal point in a mock exam poem, so I dismissed it and did Prose instead. blah blah blah

Don't even get me started on Math HL. PAH!

Business HL..... was okay at the start but I think I made some mistakes midway through and at the end, where I couldn't name a motivational theory because I FORGOT TO STUDY THAT PART *smacks head* how could I forget? that was 8 marks. and I left it blank. :( and I couldnt define what a profit centre was, so I hadn't a clue when it told me to evaluate it. -.-"

Haha. I shall add my story too! Woke up at 6.30 to Alarm 1, hit snooze, Alarm 2 rings, snooze, then Alarm 1 again, I turn it off and promptly fall back to sleep. Thankfully Alarm 2 rings and one of the 3 cousins who sleep on my floor yell at me to get up. I woke them all up with my alarms. Heh.

So, English and Maths: Doable.

Day 2:

Chem 1 and Chem 2: Also doable.

TNT is more reactive/explosive than sugar. Explain this hypothesis -.-
